AARP Montana is seeking a remote Social Media Intern starting in Fall 2026
. This position will maintain and grow the AARP Montana state office's social media accounts. Additionally, the position will include community outreach/engagement opportunities, event planning, and advocacy-related activities. Are you a creative social media whiz looking for a paid internship? We're looking for you! This remote paid internship has an anticipated start date of Fall 2026 and can continue through the end of the year with the potential for extension.

This can be a fully remote position and can be performed from anywhere in the United States and its territories.

Responsibilities
  • Creating fun, exciting, and engaging short videos and motion graphics for use on social media
  • Assist in developing and sustaining a strong social media presence focused on relevant and timely messaging and information for members in Montana
  • Develop and maintain a positive, two-way, interactive dialog on various social media channels to drive engagements
  • Creating and updating posts, profiles, and pages for Facebook and X (Twitter) through the Sprinklr marketing platform – posts to be scheduled to run several times per week
  • Tracking the growth and impact of social media channels and suggesting action steps to increase influence, relevance, and growth
  • Potentially attending selected events and taking photos/videos, and “live-posting” from those events
  • Assisting with the development and execution of paid social media advertising campaigns designed to increase impact and relevance across social media channels
  • Creating content and posting to the Montana blog pages using an interface platform similar to Word Press
Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students, and must remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
  • Must have a passion for social media and be proficient in Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), and Instagram
  • The use of other social media/blog interface tools is a huge plus
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient in using various technological tools, including cameras, microphones, lights, tablets, smartphones, and editing software, is a plus
  • Excellent research and writing skills, with keen proofreading skills
  • Undergraduate or graduate student
  • Available to work 15-25 hours per week remotely

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
