Events Coordinator
Reports to:
Senior Manager of Placemaking and Activations.
The Events Coordinator will organize and manage in‑house signature events for the Downtown Long Beach Alliances, developing partnerships with third‑party producers, maintaining vendor and city contacts, and creating new events to increase community awareness and participation.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Senior Manager to curate and plan new events, staying current on industry trends and public preferences.
- Support and attend assigned special events, festivals, promotions, or activities as needed.
- Oversee contract agreements, vendor relations, and procurement of supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate event logistics, staffing, and volunteer support for event days.
- Manage event budgets, accounting, and prepare post‑event reports for sponsors.
- Obtain licenses, permits, and street‑closure documents from the City of Long Beach.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications staff on event collateral and social media content.
- Assist with the administration of the Special Events and Development Committee.
- Develop sponsorship materials, identify donors, manage CRM records, and build long‑term sponsorship relationships.
- Liaise with Alliance personnel to secure cross‑promotional opportunities with downtown stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant work experience accepted.
- 3–5 years of event coordination experience, including logistics, programming, and development.
- Experience with Business Improvement Districts, hospitality trade, non‑profit, or public‑sector organizations preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Basic budgeting and math proficiency.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, Canva, Google Suite, Adobe Suite, and a CRM such as Salesforce.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Background check required.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.

- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Collaboration and consensus‑building with diverse groups.
- Initiative and ability to meet goals and objectives.
Full‑time, exempt position based at the DTLB Alliance office in Downtown Long Beach with occasional remote work. Availability for evening and weekend events is required.
