Advertising Account ExecutiveKansas City magazine has an immediate opening for a seasoned and highly motivated Advertising Account Executive to drive sales revenue and growth for the company. We are looking for a person who can fulfill a “hunter” role. The position of Advertising Account Executive will provide an exceptional candidate with uncapped earning potential, plus personal and professional development.
In this mostly remote role, our ideal candidate is a self-starting individual who wants to progress a career in media sales. Successful candidates work well under pressure and thrive in an environment that is rapidly changing and deadline-driven. The individual in this position will work independently and as part of our small, close-knit team.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of sales experience in a B2B environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Well-networked in the Kansas City marketplace
- Commitment to consistent daily selling behaviors
- Ability to work with high-level decision-makers
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers directly and their agencies
- Strong time management, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use client research to prepare customized sales presentations, budget recommendations, and creative ideas for business campaigns
- Experience maintaining a call list denoting prospects contacted and meetings scheduled
- Ability to win new business and achieve personal revenue goals by aggressively pursuing new business

Marketing Internship ProgramKansas City magazine offers three-month, part-time internships for those seeking to gain magazine experience. The ideal candidate will be a well-organized, creative person with strong writing skills, an outgoing personality and an eagerness to learn.
This person will work closely with the sales and marketing team assisting with marketing initiatives, promotions, events, sponsor ships and communications for the magazine. This person will also help draft sponsorship proposals, attend staff, editorial and sales meetings and learn the ins and outs of sales and marketing.
Internships provide a professional environment that allows interns to work side-by-side with an award-winning editorial and sales staff. Interns will also witness the behind-the-scenes processes of magazine publishing while providing assistance to the sales staff.
Please note that we can only accept applicants who are enrolled in an educational institution where they will receive school credit for completing an internship.
We offer an honorarium of $250 per month.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Kansas City offers three-month editorial internships year-round. Internships are hands‑on and involve a variety of responsibilities as well as the opportunity to regularly interact with the editorial staff. Interns are expected to work 20 hours per week.
Primary duties include fact-checking stories, contributing research to larger stories and feature packages and writing shorter stories for the front of the book and dining sections. Interns also enter descriptions for the calendar and listings sections and write web exclusives for
