At UNDP, strategic internal and external communication—at the national, regional and global levels—is essential to advancing development results and organizational priorities. The Communications Team leads these efforts by enhancing the visibility and impact of UNDP’s work through strategic communications. Within the team, the Social and Digital Engagement unit transforms this mission into compelling editorial and social media content, while working closely with other units to ensure a consistent tone, voice and visual identity.

Reporting to the French Editor, the intern will support the management of UNDP’s French-language social media channels and digital editorial content. From drafting social media posts and developing creative concepts for digital assets to supporting global campaigns and event coverage, the intern will help expand the reach and impact of UNDP’s communications in French.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Draft, adapt, schedule and publish content for UNDP’s French-language social media channels, ensuring posts are engaging, accurate and aligned with UNDP’s editorial and brand guidelines.
  • Manage the French-language social media editorial calendar, ensuring content reflects organizational priorities, key moments and global communication campaigns.
  • Research and identify content that can be adapted and posted on UNDP’s French-language social media channels, ensuring a diverse content mix aligned with UNDP’s strategic communications priorities.
  • Create visual content, including graphics and short-form videos, following UNDP’s brand and visual identity guidelines.
  • Support the implementation of global campaigns and strategic events across French-language social media channels, including live coverage when required.
  • Assist with translating, reviewing and proofreading social media copy from English into French and vice versa, adapting content to maximize clarity, relevance and engagement across platforms.
  • Monitor social media performance and prepare analytics reports, identifying content trends and providing insights to help inform editorial decisions.
  • Monitor and manage audience engagement across UNDP’s French-language social media channels, responding to comments and messages when appropriate and escalating issues as needed.
  • Stay up to date with social media trends, emerging platform features and audience behaviors, identifying opportunities to incorporate relevant formats and best practices.
  • Perform other editorial duties as assigned by the French Editor in support of UNDP’s French-language digital communications.
Competencies
  • Solid French writing and editing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
