Job Summary
The Associate Director of Marketing for Michigan Dining leads the strategic vision and execution of comprehensive marketing, communications, and brand initiatives. Our plans support revenue growth, enhance student engagement, and strengthen the University of Michigan Dining brand.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Dining, you will set integrated marketing strategies across digital, print, and experiential platforms, aligned with Student Life and institutional priorities. You will oversee brand management, digital innovation, media relations, and storytelling efforts that promote Michigan Dining's values of sustainability, inclusion, and culinary excellence.
You will manage a team of professional and student staff. In addition to this, the Director oversees marketing analytics and technology integration, including CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools. You will also have oversight of multiple communications platforms, such as websites, social media, mobile ordering, and digital signage.
You will help foster campus partnerships, enhance internal communications, and lead innovation in marketing practices that enhance the Michigan Dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and the wider campus community.
You will work hybrid, 3 days a week in an office in Ann Arbor, MI. With remote optional days the other 2.
Responsibilities- Under the direction of the Senior Director of Dining, establish the vision and integrated strategy for Michigan Dining's marketing and communications efforts to drive revenue, strengthen the brand, lead digital innovation, and enhance the student experience.
- Set and uphold Michigan Dining brand standards and oversee the organization's online and offline brand presence, ensuring consistent and effective digital, print, social media, and experiential content across audience groups.
- Lead strategic storytelling and internal and external communications that highlight Michigan Dining's commitment to sustainability, student engagement, inclusion, culinary excellence, and the University of Michigan's mission.
- Oversee Michigan Dining's communications platforms, including the Michigan Dining, Michigan Catering, and Maize and Blue Cupboard websites; staff intranet; social media; mobile ordering communications; newsletters; and digital signage.
- Manage media inquiries, crisis communications, and general media coverage in collaboration with Student Life Communications, Marketing, and Design.
- Lead marketing analytics and technology integration across website, social media, mobile ordering, CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and other platforms, using data to inform marketing plans, revenue strategies, menu development, and student programming.
- Hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate Michigan Dining's professional and student marketing staff and internship program; establish team goals and oversee the implementation of marketing strategies at the unit level.
- Plan and administer marketing budgets, provide financial oversight, and review marketing workflows to support the effective and efficient use of resources.
- Build and maintain partnerships with Student Life Communications, Marketing, and Design;
Student Life Technology Solutions;
Information and Technology Services; NACUFS; and other campus partners to support digital accessibility, AI innovation, cross-promotion, orientation and Campus Day communications, special events, and departmental and divisional priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Seven years of marketing experience with five years of experience managing a team of people in this space
- Experience creating cohesive marketing and communication strategies for an organization and in brand development from concept through production, distribution, and management.
- Five years of experience implementing marketing and communication projects with major omnichannel marketing campaigns that meet measurable goals.
- Knowledge of all communications channels; publications, web, and multimedia, with an understanding of online/social media strategy and savviness with respective platforms.
- Expertise in using web-based tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Mail Chimp, social networking applications, and media sharing sites) and website content management software.
