Health Communications Specialist II
Tanaq Management Services (TMS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in the health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. About the RoleWe are seeking a Health Communications Specialist II to provide stakeholder engagement and communications support to our Federal Government customer.
This is a fully remote position based in the United States.
Responsibilities- Provide professional communications and editorial support to OPHDST program managers and staff to enhance the quality, clarity, and presentation of multimedia communication materials intended for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop effective engagement strategies to support public health data modernization objectives, such as creating materials that generate awareness of our customer’s public health data modernization activities.
- Create a strategic communications plan that outlines current and future stakeholders and audiences, communication channels, messaging and materials, frequency and time frames, and success metrics.
- Produce and/or disseminate internal and external communication materials to ensure situational awareness among stakeholders and updates are reaching critical audiences, including CDC partners, STLT health agency staff, OPHDST staff, and other stakeholders.
- Support external communication with key audiences (e.g. partners, state/local health departments, academic institutions, etc.) through material development, web updates and other channels.
- Coordinate requirements-gathering and development of knowledge management mechanisms and tools to share information, resources and materials among CIOs within OPHDST and with external partners (including states) to meet CDC’s requirements.
- Conduct stakeholder assessments and analyze program requirements.
- Provide communication consultation to OPHDST divisions, branches and units to assist them with communication strategy, planning, message development, promotion and dissemination.
- Provide digital content strategy to enhance visibility across traditional and emerging platforms, such as AI engines.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in health communications, including writing, editing and disseminating multimedia communication materials to internal and external stakeholders, ideally for public health data modernization initiatives.
- Experience writing, developing and editing communication products (i.e. brochures, presentations, trainings, Q&A documents, key messages, reports, etc.) for communication through various channels.
- Experience in federal government communications best practices preferred, to include 508 compliance, Digital First, standards, branding and logo requirements, and other existing guidelines and standards for government communication.
- Prior experience working with public health agencies, including CDC staff and partners, STLT health agency staff, etc. strongly desired.
- Strong health communications skills, with the ability to synthesize and distill information into key points and write in plain language.
- Experience creating a strategic communications plan and monitoring and evaluating activities to measure overall performance.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and meet multiple tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Ability to obtain government clearance.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, advertising, public relations, English (writing/editing), public health or related field is required;
Master’s degree preferred.
