Social Media Director

As a leader of the Social Media team, the Social Media Director is responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing execution of social media initiatives across the agency’s client portfolio. The Social Media Director demonstrates mastery across content and overall social media strategy, and is responsible for mentoring and developing other members of the social team. Employees at this level serve as the senior strategic lead on key accounts and the primary agency representative for social media with client leadership.

• Set overarching social media strategy for client accounts, aligning social efforts with broader marketing, PR and business objectives
• Oversee the development, management and execution of content across social channels, ensuring quality and consistency across the team
• Provide senior-level oversight of social media accounts, leading team members on day to day management, brand advocacy, community outreach and reputation management
• Lead the development of comprehensive social media strategies to drive client growth, engagement and ROI
• Partner with leaders across other Dalton Agency departments to ensure alignment and success of clients’ integrated marketing and PR efforts
• Analyze and report on campaign performance at a strategic level, translating data into clear recommendations for clients and agency leadership
• Mentor, train and manage social media team members, including guidance on best practices, tools and professional growth
• Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for senior client stakeholders, leading client meetings and presenting as the agency’s social media expert
• Contribute to new business efforts, including pitches and proposals, showcasing the agency’s social media capabilities
• Champion the adoption of new tools, platforms and procedures across the social team

• Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field
• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a social media role, including experience leading teams and senior client relationships
• Background in agency or multi-client environments and experience with integrated marketing campaigns is highly beneficial
• Strategic, results-oriented leader capable of managing and inspiring a team while also working independently
• Demonstrates advanced writing ability and deep, current expertise across social media platforms
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience navigating complex or sensitive community issues
• Mastery of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, X, Linked In, You Tube), social management tools (ie Sprout Social), Microsoft Office (word, power point, excel). Adobe Suite a plus.
