Marketing and Communications Intern
Ready to jump into the action and help power a fast-moving content engine?
At McGough, we're building more than projects. We're building careers, communities, and stories worth sharing. From jobsites to team celebrations, there's energy happening every day, and we're looking for a Marketing and Communications Intern who's excited to capture it.
If you love creating videos, snapping photos, writing compelling copy, and sharing moments across multiple platforms, this is your chance to be part of a creative team that brings our brand to life.
The McGough Internship Program offers a well-rounded, real-world marketing and communications experience. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and build a portfolio of content across multiple channels.
This is not a "sit on the sidelines" internship. You'll be in the field, behind the camera, at events, and in the middle of the action.
What You'll Do:
- Creating content for multiple platforms, including social media posts, Reels, Stories, email campaigns, internal communications, and marketing materials
- Writing and editing copy tailored to different audiences and channels
- Capturing photos and video at jobsites, events, and office settings
- Assisting with multimedia content from concept through final production
- Posting and scheduling content across social platforms while maintaining brand consistency
- Supporting events and company initiatives through planning, coordination, and on-site assistance
- Staying current on social media trends, digital best practices, and emerging content formats
- Collaborating with HR, Business Development, and project teams to align messaging and storytelling
- Monitoring campaign performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
What You'll Gain and Contribute:
- Hands-on experience supporting internal and external communications at a leading general contractor, helping share McGough's people, projects, and community impact with employees, partners, and the public.
- Mentorship from McGough's communications and marketing professionals, with guidance on message development, writing/editing, content planning, and channel best practices.
- Exposure to real-world communications work including storytelling, social media content, newsletter/intranet updates, press releases and media support, project highlights, and event communications—seeing how strategic communications strengthens reputation and engagement.
- An opportunity to contribute meaningfully to McGough's communications efforts and learn how proactive planning, clear messaging, and consistent visuals build trust, align teams, and support business goals.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
- A junior or senior pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- A strong writer with sharp attention to detail
- Confident creating visual content on the fly, whether using professional equipment or a mobile device
- Aware of emerging social trends and how to apply them in a brand context
- Outgoing, curious, and eager to learn from others
- Organized and able to manage multiple projects at once
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, etc.) is a plus
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Perks & Benefits:
- Gain real-world experience while exploring the corporate side of construction.
- Work alongside experienced professionals who will mentor and support your growth.
- Build valuable skills that set you up for long-term career success.
- Earn competitive pay (because let's be real, that matters).

- Access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
- Professional development opportunities to keep you growing.
