Position Purpose

The Advancement Writer & Content Specialist is a key member of the Strategic Engagement team in Dartmouth’s office of Medical and Healthcare Advancement ( MHA ), responsible for developing content across a diversity of media, audiences, and platforms. The incumbent is an exceptional writer, a clear communicator and a collaborative partner, charged with developing high-quality editorial content that advances institutional and philanthropic priorities from concept to publication.

The position requires excellent editorial judgement and the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling content with the goal of inspiring audiences, strengthening engagement, and maximizing philanthropic support for Dartmouth Health and the Geisel School of Medicine ng other responsibilities, the Advancement Writer and Content Specialist serves as lead writer for MHA’s flagship publication, Vitals Magazine. The position reports to the Senior Content Manager and works in partnership with colleagues across the Content and Creative team, the wider Advancement office, and with colleagues in the Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth Health.

  • Minimum of two to four years of related professional experience.
  • Experience working on multiple, concurrent, high-priority writing projects.
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a large and complex scientific, medical, or healthcare institution.
  • Familiarity with fundraising communications strategies, messaging, and/or tactics
  • Experience in journalism and/or familiarity with journalistic best practices
