Job Description & How to Apply Below

Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote and you can work from home. Forever.

We're open to candidates based anywhere in the AMER or EMEA regions.

Role Summary

We are hiring a content marketing lead to set the company-wide direction for Oyster’s editorial narrative: the category story we tell about the future of work, the arguments our executives make in public, and the original research that HR, Finance, and Legal leaders cite when making decisions.

You will operate as an AI-first functional lead rather than a traditional editorial manager. There are no direct reports, deliberately. Your leverage will come from the AI systems and governance you design—research agents, brand-voice models, fact-checking, source verification, repurposing, and evaluation—plus the senior stakeholders, freelancers, agencies, and subject-matter experts you mobilize.

We are looking for the person who wants to find out how much editorial ambition one exceptional operator with a well-built AI stack can carry, and who will set the standard for what an AI-native content function looks like. The scope is unusual for a single role: a live audience across our library, newsletter, and podcast; a leadership team that publishes and speaks;

proprietary employment data from 180+ countries; and the mandate to build this function the way it should be built, not the way it has always been done.

Key Responsibilities

Own the narrative

  • Define Oyster’s long-term editorial and category strategy across Marketing, executive leadership, Product, People, Legal, and customer-facing teams.
  • Resolve high-stakes narrative trade-offs and establish the positions, evidence standards, and language Oyster uses consistently across business areas.
  • Own a multi-year editorial roadmap and a focused portfolio of flagship research and thought-leadership bets linked to company strategy.
  • Act as the final quality bar for voice, accuracy, evidence, and taste across human- and AI-produced content.

Build company-wide AI content mechanisms

  • Architect and govern reusable systems for research, brand voice, fact-checking, source verification, repurposing, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Define risk-based rules for where AI leads, where humans lead, and where specialist or executive approval is mandatory.
  • Establish mechanisms and standards adopted across Marketing and relevant partner teams, not only within the content workflow.
  • Measure leverage through throughput, cycle time, cost, adoption, quality, and business impact; evolve the system each quarter.

Lead thought leadership and executive voice

  • Set the operating model for executive publishing and advise leaders on the arguments Oyster should make publicly.
  • Turn proprietary employment, salary, and hiring data into a durable original-research programme that shapes external conversation.
  • Mobilize newsletter, podcast, events, PR, analyst relations, Product Marketing, partner/customer storytelling, and social around shared narratives.

Own business impact

  • Connect editorial and narrative decisions to company growth, customer trust, target-account engagement, earned influence, and pipeline.
  • Build reporting that enables executives and teams to make better portfolio and investment decisions.
  • Identify emerging market shifts early and recommend company responses before they become obvious.

Mobilize the extended organization

  • Set direction for senior stakeholders, freelancers, agencies, specialists, and subject-matter experts without relying on formal authority.
  • Create decision rights, operating rhythms, and shared standards that enable multiple teams to execute consistently.
  • Define the long‑term roadmap and future organizational shape of the capability, including what remains expert‑led, becomes a system, or requires hiring.

Core Requirements

  • 8+ years in content, editorial, or brand journalism, including senior ownership of a brand narrative or thought leadership programme at a B2B technology company.
  • Evidence of setting a company or category narrative that changed decisions, earned external authority, and was adopted across teams.
  • A portfolio of work that earned attention on merit through…
