Position: Event Marketing Assistant for the Red Room at Cafe 939

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester.
  • This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.

The Red Room at Cafe 939 Promotion/Marketing Assistant plays an important role in maximizing visibility and building audiences for events hosted there. Working as part of the venue's marketing team, student employees support the promotion of concerts and events through social media, digital content, graphic materials, grassroots promotion, artist communication, and other marketing initiatives. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced, deadline-driven live entertainment environment.

The work produced by our student team represents The Red Room and Berklee to artists, managers, agents, event partners, and the public. Students in this role are expected to be reliable, communicative, organized, creative, and proactive. While supervisors provide direction and support, successful Marketing Assistants take ownership of their responsibilities, identify work that needs to be done, contribute ideas, and follow projects through to completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create posters, social graphics, and other visual marketing materials.
  • Create and maintain social media content promoting upcoming events, including posts, stories, short-form video, and other platform-appropriate content.
  • Attend select Red Room events to capture photo and video content.
  • Edit and organize photo and video content for use across social and digital platforms.
  • Post events to appropriate online calendars, event-listing sites, and community resources.
  • Communicate professionally with artists, managers, agents, event leaders, and planners before shows to gather marketing materials and coordinate promotional efforts.
  • Assist in developing marketing strategies for individual events based on the artist, audience, ticket sales, and promotional opportunities.
  • Monitor ticket sales and work with supervisors to identify events that may require additional promotional support.
  • Help identify businesses, organizations, student groups, and community partners that may provide relevant promotional opportunities.
  • Brainstorm and pitch creative content and promotional ideas rather than relying solely on assigned tasks.
  • Maintain organized project files, marketing materials, content, and other departmental resources.
  • Keep supervisors informed of project status, completed work, challenges, and upcoming priorities.
  • Complete other duties and projects assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Because live events operate on fixed timelines, reliability and communication are essential requirements of this position.
