The Nature Conservancy is hiring an Associate Director of Communications , North America Region for a full-time remote role.

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is seeking an Associate Director of Communications, North America Region (NAR) to provide strategic internal and external communications support for its multidisciplinary regional communications team.

The Associate Director of Communications will serve as the strategic communications lead for the North America Region, with a particular focus on internal communications, executive positioning and organizational alignment.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, North America Activation and Integration, the position will work closely with NAR leadership, Global Communications, Internal Communications, Conservation and Fundraising teams to develop and implement communications initiatives that support TNC’s 2030 goals.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted communications advisor to the Regional Executive Director and senior leaders, providing strategic counsel on messaging, approach and timing for high-impact communications.

The Associate Director will:

• Develop and execute the strategic communications plan for the North America Region.
• Create talking points, FAQs, backgrounders and other critical communications materials.
• Develop a strong understanding of NAR conservation priorities and programmes.

• Advise on and execute communications rollouts covering finance, operations, policy communications, change management and other organisational initiatives.
• Provide leadership and connectivity between TNC teams for internal, executive, policy and crisis communications.

• Support rapid-response communications involving internal and external audiences.
• Align NAR communications with Global Marketing and Communications strategies, messaging and strategic direction.
• Work with communications stakeholders to support NAR responses using TNC’s rapid response framework and internal decision-making tools.
• Work closely with the Global Director of Internal Communications to align NAR internal communications with the global approach.
• Support executive communications for key NAR leaders.
• Provide communications, technical and on-air support for town halls, staff conversations, conservation learning sessions and division-wide calls.

• Regularly update NAR internal and external collateral, including SharePoint pages, backgrounders and impact reports.
• Support senior NAR leaders with internal and external presentations.
• Provide social media strategy and support for the NAR Regional Executive Director.
• Develop NAR communications materials for the leadership team aligned with TNC’s One Future campaign.
• Support strategic goals and objectives while remaining flexible and responsive to executive communications and time-sensitive organisational initiatives.

Candidates should have:

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 8 years of related experience
  , or an equivalent combination.
• Experience cultivating and managing relationships with senior executives, board members and members of the media.
• Experience measuring the results of strategic communications plans and programmes.
• Experience supporting earned media efforts, including preparing executives for media interviews and appearances.
