Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Manager of Marketing is NPLF’s execution engine for marketing, communications, and donor engagement — turning the organization’s strategy set by the Director of Marketing and Communications into consistent, high-quality work across digital channels, the website, social media, branch relationships, and event promotion. This role also owns day-to-day donor stewardship and communications support, and partners with the Director of Community Giving to engage the community in branches.

This is a hands‑on, owner’s role for someone who wants to build and run the systems behind NPLF’s marketing and donor engagement.

Job Responsibilities

Digital Communications (60%)

  • Own NPLF’s digital presence end to end: website content and upkeep, monthly e-newsletters, impact reports, blog posts, and social media, published against a shared editorial calendar
  • Write and produce on-brand content, adapting core campaign messaging for each platform and audience
  • Produce appeals and stewardship communications, coordinating with fundraising colleagues on timing, segmentation, and messaging
  • Keep marketing plans on schedule across the fiscal year
  • Create digital assets for social graphics, emails, web images, and event promotion pieces
  • Manage community engagement across social channels, responding to comments and messages and routing donor and advocacy signals to the appropriate colleague.
  • Maintain and build NPLF’s photo, video, asset, and story library so donor and campaign materials draw from current, permissioned assets
  • Track channel performance against goals and report on what is working, what is not, and what should change

Event Marketing (20%)

  • Lead marketing and promotional execution for NPLF’s event portfolio: the Literary Award Weekend, Picnic with the Library, Library Giving Day, Carnegie Society Book Club, Check Out Nashville, and other stewardship and cultivation events
  • Build and execute event marketing timelines from save-the-date through post-event follow-up (invitations, email, social media, website, and event materials)
  • Brief and direct contract designers on marketing materials and work with vendors as needed

General Marketing and Planning (10%)

  • Co‑develop the marketing plans with the Director of Marketing and Communications, and own execution of communications and marketing across channels
  • Build and improve the systems, templates, and workflows needed, with the standing to propose changes.
  • Oversee production of stewardship and appeal mailings, working with vendors as needed

Branch Engagement, Advocacy, and Community Outreach (10%)

  • Coordinate in‑branch marketing collateral and signage and supporter‑facing outreach experiences
  • Support advocacy communications and stewardship
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of marketing, communications, or nonprofit development experience
  • Excellent writer and editor, comfortable adapting voice and message across channels
  • Competent graphic design skills; comfortable in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Working proficiency with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Linked In), Mailchimp or a comparable email platform
  • Comfort with Word Press; GA4 or other analytics experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities
  • A true self‑starter, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and board‑adjacent groups
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for regular travel across Davidson County branch locations
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Passion for libraries, literacy, and public service strongly preferred
Additional Information
  • 100% Employer‑paid health for employee
  • 401K Plan (with 6% employer match) after one year of employment
  • Flexible Spending Account options
  • Free garage parking and monthly phone stipend
  • Hybrid work-from-home schedule
  • 4 weeks of PTO
