Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League Social Media and Digital Storytelling Intern (Spring 2027) - Humanities in Action (College of Arts & Science) - Student Worker Only Position Description

The Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League (Nebraska NICA ) is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-driven Social Media & Digital Storytelling Intern to help tell the story of youth mountain biking across Nebraska.

This internship is ideal for a student interested in communications, digital media, journalism, marketing, public relations, or storytelling. Working closely with league staff, the intern will create engaging content that highlights the people, programs, and purpose behind Nebraska NICA .

From race weekends and team practices to volunteer spotlights and athlete stories, this role will help showcase how Nebraska NICA is building strong minds, bodies, character, and communities through mountain biking.

• Create engaging social media content that reflects Nebraska NICA’s mission, values, and culture.
• Produce approximately 2–3 short-form videos (Reels) and 3–5 social media posts each week for Facebook and Instagram.
• Capture and edit photos and videos from league events, races, practices, and community activities (when available).
• Develop compelling stories featuring student-athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families.
• Help maintain a consistent content calendar that supports league initiatives, fundraising campaigns, events, and seasonal programming.
• Organize and optimize Nebraska NICA’s You Tube channel, including playlists, titles, descriptions, thumbnails, and archived videos.
• Audit and organize the league’s social media assets to improve accessibility and consistency.
• Monitor engagement trends and recommend creative ways to expand Nebraska NICA’s online reach and community engagement.
• Collaborate with league staff to identify meaningful stories that celebrate the impact of youth mountain biking across Nebraska.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about storytelling and creating engaging digital content.
• Comfortable using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and You Tube.
• Experienced with short‑form video editing (Canva, Cap Cut, Adobe Express, Premiere Rush, or similar platforms).
• Creative, organized, and able to manage multiple projects.
• A strong writer with excellent attention to detail.
• Interested in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, digital media, or a related field.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a small, mission‑driven team.
• Photography and videography experience is a plus but not required.

• Up to 150 hours per semester (approximately 10 hours per week).
• Flexible schedule with occasional evening or weekend hours to capture content at events or special programs.
• Remote work is available, with opportunities to attend Nebraska NICA events throughout the semester.
