Job SummaryThe Public Affairs Representative — Community Relations is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships between the organization and the communities it serves. This position coordinates community outreach activities, supports public engagement initiatives, communicates organizational information to community stakeholders, and identifies community concerns and opportunities for collaboration.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and support community relations and public engagement programs.
Build and maintain professional relationships with community organizations, local leaders, nonprofit organizations, businesses, schools, civic groups, and other stakeholders.
Serve as a communication point between the organization and community stakeholders.
Represent the organization at community meetings, public forums, outreach events, conferences, and other local activities.
Coordinate community outreach programs, events, meetings, and engagement activities.
Develop informational materials, presentations, newsletters, flyers, announcements, and other community communications.
Communicate organizational programs, services, initiatives, policies, and updates to community audiences.
Listen to community concerns, questions, and feedback and communicate relevant information to internal leadership and departments.
Track and respond to routine community inquiries in accordance with organizational policies.
Coordinate with internal departments to address community questions and support appropriate follow-up.
Maintain community stakeholder databases, contact lists, engagement records, and communication histories.
Conduct research to understand community needs, interests, concerns, and emerging issues relevant to the organization.
Monitor local news, community discussions, social media, and other sources for community-related developments.
Prepare reports summarizing community feedback, outreach activities, stakeholder engagement, and emerging issues.
Support public meetings, town halls, open houses, community briefings, and informational sessions.
Coordinate event logistics, invitations, presentations, materials, venues, and stakeholder communications.
Support community partnership and volunteer initiatives where applicable.
Assist with charitable giving, sponsorship, community investment, and corporate social responsibility programs.
Develop and maintain relationships with nonprofit and community-based organizations.
Support crisis and issues communications by helping coordinate community information and approved messaging.
Ensure community communications are accurate, timely, respectful, and consistent with organizational policies.
Collaborate with Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, Legal, and other departments.
Maintain records of community meetings, inquiries, commitments, events, and follow-up activities.
Identify opportunities to strengthen community engagement and improve communication between the organization and stakeholders.
Follow organizational communication, confidentiality, safety, ethics, and community engagement policies.
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Public Affairs, Community Relations, Marketing, Business, Sociology, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in community relations, public affairs, public relations, communications, outreach, or a related field.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
Experience working with diverse community stakeholders and organizations.
Strong organizational and event coordination skills.
