Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk
Overview
Our flagship service is providing meals to children in poverty while they are ls include everything from porridge for breakfast to hot lunch. Additionally, we offer individual child sponsor ships, high school scholarships, educational enrichment, emergency assistance, and social work services to our families. Mission trips to Kenya several times a year allow us to reinforce relationships and allow teams to enhance our work in-country.
Based in Freeport, Illinois, serving women and children in Kenya East Africa. Dorcas Destiny International Nonprofit Ministry Organization. Flexible.
- Record and categorize financial transactions (donations, expenses, reimbursements)
- Maintain accurate and organized bookkeeping records
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
- Prepare simple financial summaries for ministry leadership
- Assist with budget tracking and expense monitoring
- Support documentation needs for audits or annual nonprofit filings (as applicable)
- Experience with bookkeeping, accounting, or finance (professional or volunteer)
- Familiarity with accounting software (Quick Books, Wave, or similar preferred)
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and highly trustworthy
- Comfortable working independently with periodic check-ins
- Experience with church or nonprofit finances is a plus, but not required
- Use your professional skills to support meaningful ministry work
- Flexible schedule that fits your availability
- Mostly remote work with occasional local connection
- Be part of a mission-driven team serving extremely poor families in Kenya East Africa
- Help strengthen long-term sustainability and good stewardship
Approximately 5–10 hours per month, with flexibility depending on season and availability.
