Original Power is a community-focused, Aboriginal-led organisation working to build the power, skills and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to determine what happens in their communities and on Country. We work alongside communities to respond to climate change while strengthening economic participation and energy justice.
We are seeking a WA Clean Energy Projects & Engagement Lead to work alongside First Nations communities across the Kimberley and Pilbara
, supporting community-led clean energy initiatives and strong, values-driven partnerships.
The WA Clean Energy Projects & Engagement Lead works in close partnership with First Nations communities, organisations and leaders to support their clean energy ambitions on Country. The role focuses on relationship-building, community engagement and project development support, helping communities navigate clean energy opportunities, risks and decision-making.
You will also work with government, industry and sector stakeholders to support engagement, advocacy and policy-informed work that advances First Nations-led outcomes in Western Australia’s energy transition. The role brings together community organising, capacity building, stakeholder engagement and clean energy project support.
The position is home-based or co-working, with regular travel across the Kimberley and Pilbara, and occasional travel to Perth and interstate.
Key responsibilities- Build and sustain respectful relationships with First Nations communities and organisations in the Kimberley and Pilbara
- Support community-led planning, development and delivery of clean energy projects
- Provide clear, accessible information on clean energy infrastructure, policy and funding opportunities
- Support and deliver clean energy workshops, training and community gatherings
- Develop and manage partnerships with community, government and sector stakeholders
- Contribute to engagement, advocacy and communications activities related to clean energy
- Monitor relevant WA clean energy policy and sector developments
- Support project delivery, coordination and reporting across clean energy initiatives
You are committed to protecting Country and advancing justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. You bring a collaborative, community-centred approach and are confident working across diverse stakeholders while staying grounded in community priorities.
You will bring:
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Strong community engagement and relationship-building skills
- Experience supporting projects or programs, with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
- Understanding of clean energy, infrastructure or public policy, or a willingness to build expertise
- Strong communication skills and cultural competence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, distributed team
