The Texas Civil Rights Project (TCRP) is a community lawyering organization boldly serving the movement for equality and justice in and out of the courts, seeking to advance a vision of a Texas where all communities can thrive with dignity and justice, without fear. For more than thirty-five years, the Texas Civil Rights Project has been a committed partner to community organizers, families, and advocacy groups statewide.
Whether through litigation or legal advocacy, the attorneys and advocates at TCRP work to dismantle mass incarceration, fight discrimination in voting and civic participation, and right injustices occurring at the Texas border, all under a race equity lens. TCRP’s lawyers work with coalitions of community-based organizations to identify injustices facing Texas communities and develop systemic solutions using litigation and other legal advocacy tools.

TCRP comprises three regional offices across Texas, with over 50 employees and an annual budget exceeding $7 million. TCRP operates under a hybrid work policy, allowing full remote work from anywhere in Texas and requiring travel and in‑person attendance for specified work activities. The in‑person activities are typically based out of any of TCRP’s locations:
Alamo (in the Rio Grande Valley), Austin, Houston, and. Exceptions to required in‑person activities can be made on a case‑by‑case basis.
The Senior Grants Manager secures grant funds supporting general operations, restricted projects, collaborative fundraising efforts, multiple entities, and other agency initiatives. This role also helps set the direction for TCRP’s grants work, including which funding opportunities to pursue and how the organization builds and maintains relationships with funders.
Specifically, the Senior Grants Manager creates grant applications and reports by coordinating multiple departments within TCRP, including Development, Finance, and program teams. The Senior Grants Manager also oversees the Grants Manager, their grant portfolio, and grants prospecting efforts. The Senior Grants Manager is a key member of TCRP’s Development team and reports directly to TCRP’s Director of Strategic Partnerships & Development.
GRANTWRITING AND MANAGEMENT
- Manage the submission of all grant deliverables – including proposals, reports, and other written materials, their corresponding due dates, expected notification dates, and submission portals or processes– for the organization’s entities and collaborative fundraising efforts
- Own a grant portfolio of institutional funders contributing $100,000 or more in annual grants and manage the Grants Manager portfolio of institutional funders contributing up to $100,000 in annual grants
- Develop and write or supervise the development and writing of grant deliverables to all funders and prospects to support the organization’s entities and collaborative fundraising efforts
- Collaborate regularly with the Finance team for grants budgets, reports, and related financial documents requested by institutional funders
- Create annual grant submission plans that are integrated into the overall Development annual plan and fundraising goals to address the organization’s revenue needs
- Manage grants prospecting, supporting the Grants Manager in identifying and qualifying grant prospects to meet institutional funding acquisition goals
