Green Mountain Adaptive Sports has been volunteer-led since its founding in 2010. Over the past decade, our programs, reach, and events have grown exponentially. We are currently in a strong organizational and financial position and are excited to take the next step in our evolution.

Executive Director (Part-Time)Green Mountain Adaptive Sports (GMAS)
Location: Vermont (Central/Northern VT preferred)
Status: Part-time (20–25 hours/week) | Remote with local travel
Green Mountain Adaptive Sports (GMAS) is seeking a
part-time Executive Director to lead the organization as its
first paid employee
. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-driven leader to guide a well-established, volunteer-powered nonprofit into its next phase of growth.
The Executive Director will oversee all aspects of the organization, working closely with the Board of Directors and volunteers to advance GMAS’s mission through strong leadership, financial stewardship, fundraising, marketing, and program oversight.
Key ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Leadership & Strategy
- Deliver GMAS’s mission in a
high-quality, safe, effective, efficient, and inclusive manner - Lead day-to-day operations and manage a
cost-efficient organization - Drive
long-term strategic planning in partnership with the Board - Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors; run monthly virtual board meetings and an annual in-person offsite
- Oversee programs and events to ensure quality, safety, and alignment with mission
- Serve as the
public face of GMAS in the community and with donors, partners, and stakeholders - Attend most local events and programs, including some evenings and weekends
- Lead and support a fully volunteer-based organization, including board members and one-time volunteers
- Motivate, delegate, and empower volunteers while fostering a positive, inclusive culture
- Enhance and grow fundraising efforts, with a focus on
larger corporate donors - Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting
- Apply sound business and financial principles to nonprofit operations
- Own GMAS’s marketing efforts, primarily
social media
, with oversight of the website and email communications - Ensure consistent messaging and brand presence across all platforms
- Prior nonprofit leadership experience preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated success in fundraising
- Knowledge of financial management and nonprofit operations
- Passion for working with the adaptive community
- Willingness to
roll up your sleeves and handle both strategic and hands‑on work - Ability to lead and delegate within a 100% volunteer-driven organization
- Working knowledge of
Word Press, Constant Contact, and social media platforms
- 20–25 hours per week on average
- Potential to grow into a
full‑time role - Work-from‑home position, with residence in or near central/northern Vermont
- Local travel required
- Evening and weekend availability for events and programs
- Base Salary: $37,000–$48,000 annually (part‑time, depending on experience and qualifications)
- Bonus: Year‑end bonus possible
