We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEI&B) Specialist.
Job SummaryThe Random Acts DEI&B Specialist will play a central role in implementing and facilitating the execution of diversity and inclusion strategies for our volunteers. This position involves working closely with the Manager of DEI&B | Learning & Development and all stakeholders to support antiracist and anti-bias practices and policies throughout the organization. It also supports initiatives addressing diverse identities, including race, gender, religion, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, language learner status, immigrant status, and other marginalized identities.
Responsibilities- Assist affinity group leaders in facilitating and organizing inclusion‑related activities including regular meeting planning and assistance with organizing internal events.
- Support the creation and delivery of programs and content focused on DEI&B.
- Remain informed of trends in DEI&B spaces, and share relevant information as appropriate.
- Contribute to special projects within the department or organization as needed.
- Collaborate with Random Acts’ teams to prepare and create DEI&B communications material increasing knowledge, dialogue, and conversations about critical issues that will be distributed across sites.
- Co‑create educational programs that enhance understanding and practical application of DEI&B principles.
- Ensure that DEI&B principles are considered in decision‑making processes across different departments.
- Develop cultural competency across the organization to ensure a deep understanding and respect for the cultural differences of our volunteers and stakeholders.
- 3+ years of experience supporting DEI&B efforts at an organization.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written presentation skills or strong interest in developing those skills.
- Approachable with a proven ability to build relationships, and communicate and collaborate effectively across various functions and levels.
- Well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and adept at adhering to schedules.
- Tactful, creative, and enthusiastic, with the ability to positively motivate others.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Flexible with work hours to include evenings and weekends for meetings and events.
This role requires remote working. Applicants must have regular and reliable access to the internet, as well as the motivation to dedicate their time to the organization.
