Regional Director of Development - Northeast

Clemson University’s Regional Development Team seeks a Regional Director of Development – North East. The Regional Director will operate remotely in the Northeastern United States, supporting the University Development Team and Advancement Division.

• Serves as Regional Director of Development for the Northeastern U.S. region in a remote capacity.
• Collaborates with the Senior Director of Regional Development to create and implement a regional major gift strategy.
• Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gifts from university‑wide Northeastern U.S. alumni, parents, and friends.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

80% – Essential – Fundraising: Manage a portfolio of major‑gift prospects (up to 150). Cultivate prospects through 15–18 visits per month, raise a minimum of $1.25 million annually, and create strategic prospect plans. Maintain accurate donor data in the central database.

10% – Essential – Strategic

Collaboration:

Build relationships within the Advancement Division and other stakeholders to advance Clemson’s philanthropic priorities across the Northeastern U.S. Assist with strategic stewardship of assigned donors.

10% – Essential – Stewardship and Engagement: Coordinate donor cultivation, stewardship, and engagement opportunities, including event planning related to development activities.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 1–3 years of experience in alumni engagement, fundraising, business development, sales, or communication.

• 3–5 years of fundraising experience with a demonstrated ability to close six‑figure and seven‑figure gifts.

Fundamental job knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures relevant to major gift development. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities. Ability to travel ≈ 50% (overnight and day).

Standard

Hours:

37.5 hours per week. Remote work (Out‑of‑State). Expected salary range: $97,417 – $120,000. Salary determined by candidate’s experience, skills, and performance in accordance with Clemson’s compensation guidelines.
