Position Summary
Volunteer Engagement Manager is responsible for leading and strengthening United Way of Lane County's (UWLC) volunteer engagement strategy and infrastructure and aligning volunteer engagement efforts with UWLC's broader impact strategies. This includes program and event management, implementation, and administrative support of short-term and larger-scale volunteer efforts and serving as a connector and resource to other community-based volunteer coordinators. This position requires in-person collaboration and local travel, with some flexibility for remote work.
DescriptionVolunteer Engagement Manager works with nonprofit organizations, community services groups, community partners, businesses, government, labor, faith-based organizations, donors, and volunteers across Lane County and UWLC staff to network and build relationships that help United Way deepen community connections and grow partnerships. This will be balanced with detail-oriented office work and project management. The successful candidate is an authentic spokesperson and champion for our work, comfortable both one-on-one settings and presenting to large groups, and is able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Lead and manage event based volunteer programs.
- Develop opportunities to engage individual, corporate and youth volunteers to strengthen United Way as key volunteer resource for Lane County.
- Provide excellent customer service/relationship management.
- Manage and lead annual Days of Caring event; support other volunteer projects as needed.
- Lead the Volunteer Coordinators' Network by providing administrative direction, planning, and Steering Committee oversight to ensure volunteerism efforts are aligned and supported throughout Lane County.
- Improve UWLC's volunteer connection tools, processes, and systems on a regular basis.
- Mobilize and connect volunteers by supporting United Way's volunteer database, volunteer website, and other systems needed to support volunteer connections in and across Lane County.
- Coordinate quarterly internal volunteer opportunities to connect UWLC staff with partner agencies' volunteer opportunities.
- Be a spokesperson for UWLC at community tabling or other events throughout the year; events may occur on evenings or weekends.

Minimum Education & ExperienceGrade 1: Bachelor's degree or equivalent with minimum three (3) volunteer management, project/event management, fundraising or consultative sales experience or customer relations experience or similar.
OR Comparable combination of education, training, or relevant work experience that demonstrates similar knowledge and skills.
Grade 2: Bachelor's degree or equivalent with minimum five (5) years working experience, with applicable degree or certification in project management, non-profit management, communications, health systems, or similar. OR Comparable combination of education, training, or relevant work experience that demonstrates similar knowledge and skills.
Necessary Skills & Knowledge- Valid Oregon driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Dependable, flexible and good natured with strong professional work habits.
- Project management skills – proven ability to schedule, plan, track and complete complex projects on time.
- Enthusiastic about volunteerism and community connection, with experience working in cross-sector relationships.
- Highly organized with attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.
- Results oriented with demonstrated ability to sustain momentum across multiple projects.
- Naturally enthusiastic and relationship-driven; maintains a positive outlook and can embrace change.
- Spanish-English Bilingual, Bicultural preferred
