Overview
Location:
Talara, Peru. Duration: minimum 2 weeks, maximum 6 months. Start dates: project is ongoing, and you can join at any time, depending upon availability. Cost for the in-person placement: from $1,466 USD for the first 2 weeks + from $608 for each week thereafter. Cost for the online placement: from $1,081 USD for the first 2 weeks + from $415 for each week thereafter.

- Work in local initiatives with passionate people making a real difference to the community.
- Learn from educational seminars given by Directors on topics including international development, NGO/social enterprise creation and management, marketing and outreach, research techniques, and more.
- Impact: your financial contribution helps fund projects and supports a family in need; a tree may be planted in your name and a thank-you photo will be sent to you.
- Live and work in a northern Peru surfing hotspot (relevant to in-person placement).

This project is with a surfing-inspired sustainable development non-profit (NGO) driving the development of poor Peruvian coastal communities through sustainability. We develop environmental, educational, infrastructure and socio-economic projects working with local communities and international interns. We welcome interns from universities to carry out research related to our focus. Volunteer interns are encouraged to develop their own research project if it aligns with our work.
Responsibilities/ Activities
- Support environmental, educational, infrastructure and socio-economic projects as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Engage with local communities to identify needs and contribute to project execution.
- Develop or contribute to independent research projects aligned with our focus areas.
- Participate in ongoing guidance and feedback from the team throughout the placement.
- Interest in international development, sustainability, and community projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, field-based environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and learning opportunities.
