Cascadia Conservation District is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Habitat Restoration Specialist II to join our team. This permanent, part‑time or full‑time position is one of the primary staff responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring habitat restoration projects that benefit salmonid species and water quality in Chelan County. The role includes managing grant funds, project logistics, and serving on various water resource and salmon recovery committees.

Employees must reside in Washington State, be within reasonable distance of the Wenatchee office, and be able to work out of the office 1‑3 days per week. Remote work is available.

Typical Work

The Habitat Restoration Resource Specialist II will lead a suite of aquatic habitat projects, including LWD installation, culvert replacement, riparian restoration, and beaver dam analogs (BDAs). Responsibilities encompass the entire project lifecycle: concept, securing grant funding, planning and design, implementation logistics, post‑project monitoring, and reporting.

Typical tasks include coordinating partners and team members; budget check‑ins, grant reporting, and status updates; collaboration with other Conservation District programs such as Forestry and Agriculture; and permitting activities. The position will balance office and field duties (approximately 50% each).

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in natural resources, habitat restoration, or related sciences and three years of professional experience; an Associate’s Degree may substitute for a Bachelor’s if the applicant has four years or more of applicable experience.
  • Very strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with private landowners and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and small groups.
  • Capability to develop and manage contracts between agencies, landowners, partners, and contractors.
  • Experience writing and managing grants.
  • Experience applying for and obtaining permits such as HPA, USACE Section 404, and building permits.
  • Experience planning and implementing conservation practices in habitat restoration, agriculture, and/or forestry.
  • Ability to work in remote and rugged locations under various weather conditions and traverse difficult terrain with field equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel essential).
  • Valid driver’s license.
