The Economic Justice Program Manager is the lead for the Center’s workforce development program and services. The primary goal of this program is to place transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse individuals, and LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness, into jobs that provide economic security and career pathways with LGBTQ+ affirming employers. This position is responsible for providing detailed workforce development case management, coordinating You Betta Work LGBTQ+ Career Fairs, job readiness workshops, career counseling, job placement, removing barriers to employment, relationship building and outreach with employers, and building employment environments where LGBTQ+ people, especially those with multiple marginalized identities, can thrive.
This position is responsible for generating and sustaining revenue for the Economic Justice Program through employer engagement.
This position reports to the Director of Advocacy & Training and works in partnership with other programming staff, events team, and stakeholders as well as directly with community members of diverse backgrounds. This position requires a flexible candidate to meet the needs of the program and its clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Client advocacy, support and job placement
- Lead workforce development program implementation, compliance and sustainability
- Community outreach and engagement with LGBTQ+ affirming employers
- Coordinate quarterly LGBTQ+ career fairs and hiring events including efforts to recruit affirming employers, outreach to community members, and collaborate with Center teams to execute successful events.
- Provide 1:1 employment coaching;
Coach job seekers to discover and access employment and job training opportunities; provide resume building and interview skills, and other tools and resources, monitoring client progress toward their employment goals. - Accurately and completely record job seeker/client profile information, all services provided to clients, case notes, and client progress in the client data systems daily per agency guidelines.
- Conduct comprehensive, strengths-based assessments for new job seekers to evaluate barriers, inventory skills, and develop Individual Service Plans (ISP).
- Coordinate/facilitate job readiness training workshops including resume and cover letter development, behavior-based interviewing, personal branding, and application support
- Match qualified job seekers with appropriate employers, assist with applications, coordinate interviews, and work towards a minimum 75% placement rate.
- Receive and respond efficiently to internal and external referrals, collaborating with referring agencies to report job seeker progress and recommend additional services.
- Develop educational and skills-based pathways for job readiness, entry-level employment, career advancement, and upskilling to support long-term career success for job seekers.
- Generate and sustain career fair employer fees and partner with Director, the Grants & Program Sustainability Manger and CPO to identify grant funding opportunities and other revenue streams to support the Economic Justice Program.
- Maintain program budget and ensure organizational policy and procedure compliance; ensure all program and grant deliverables are met.
- Provide regular written program progress reports, grant deliverable reports, and other data and program evaluation reports per supervisor and funder guidelines.
