Description

City Club of Portland is seeking a candidate to support the Club's member-led membership and fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate has strong people skills, a passion for civic engagement, and an enthusiasm for member/donor relations, and is accustomed to working in an environment that requires wearing multiple hats.

About City Club

City Club of Portland, established in 1916, is a membership-led organization dedicated to promoting civic education, community service, and leadership development. Through public forums, debates, community-based research, and advocacy, we address important issues in the Portland area, the state, and society as a whole. We provide an impartial, nonpartisan platform, ensuring that our programming and research reflects the varied perspectives and voices within our community.

City Club's mission is to inform our members and the community in public matters and to arouse in them a realization of the obligations of citizenship.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage direct member relations, including inquiries, recruiting, enrollment, welcome events, communications, renewals, and lapsed follow-ups as the primary liaison with members.

* Support and drive the development process, including the organization and implementation of efforts advancing the Annual Fund (individual giving), Leadership Circle ($1,000+), Organizational Sponsors (of events), Civic Partners (organizational members), and Legacy Society (estate gifts). Assure proper recording of all development stewardship, including contact logging, gift recording, donor acknowledgments, and campaign tracking.

* Staff the work of Membership and Development Committees, providing scheduling, reporting, campaign coordination, and task performance.

Skill/Attribute Set

The role requires strong interpersonal, quantitative and verbal skills, and an ability to work both independently and with a team. A strong candidate will have experience in client/member/donor relations in Portland, identifying strategic opportunities for institutional growth, and interest in non-profit management. Enthusiasm for City Club's mission and MS Office talent (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required. Customer Relations experience is a plus.

Reporting/Coordination

City Club of Portland is run by a volunteer administrator, employs a communications director and office manager, and relies on robust member contributions to run our activities. The coordinator will report to the Administrator and coordinate with other staff and Committee Chairs to fulfill key responsibilities. This is an in-office position with some remote work possible. The position will involve interaction and cross training with other staff, member-led committees, and members.

Hours/Compensation

This position is 32-40 hours/week. Pay range is $50K-$65K/year depending on experience. Some benefits are offered at this time. The position offers the potential for advancement.
