As the Bookkeeper, you’ll play a vital role in supporting Brave Be’s mission by ensuring accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and responsible stewardship of the grants and funding sources that sustain our programs.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, accuracy, problem‑solving, and working collaboratively in a mission‑focused nonprofit environment. You’ll help ensure Brave Be remains financially strong and compliant while supporting the important work happening across our programs and services.
What You’ll Do Support Financial Operations- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial record‑keeping in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards and GAAP
- Process accounts payable and receivable while ensuring proper grant and program allocation
- Perform regular bank, credit‑card, and account reconciliations
- Track expenditures and receivables across multiple federal, state, and local grants
- Assist with grant invoicing, reporting, and drawdown requests
- Monitor grant budgets and ensure expenditures align with funding requirements
- Maintain organized financial documentation and audit‑ready records
- Support annual audits, monitoring visits, and financial reporting processes
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and efficiencies while maintaining compliance
- Work closely with leadership and program staff to support budgeting and reporting needs
- Partner with the Development Team to track in‑kind donations and funding allocations
- Serve as a trusted financial resource within a collaborative team environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or grant‑funded setting
- Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
- Experience with Quick Books and Microsoft Office products
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
