VOLUNTEER DIRECTOR JOB SUMMARY

The Volunteer Director promotes the vision for easy and meaningful volunteering experiences, and ensures the program aligns with OMC’s mission, values, and strategic plan. Through program and systems development, the Volunteer Director utilizes their skills to enhance and grow volunteering options at all program sites and virtual options, supporting the organization’s work from anywhere. This position champions a culture of volunteer inclusion among all staff, encouraging volunteer involvement in every area of the organization.

This position requires an understanding of nonprofit organizational structure, volunteer utilization, and the development of scalable systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
  • Develop a comprehensive volunteer program to include virtual or remote volunteering opportunities, and a program that encompasses recruitment, appreciation, and retention of volunteers.
  • Implement a system to easily process, onboard, train, and track volunteers and their service hours for both individuals and groups.
  • Collaborate closely with staff in other OMC departments and programs for volunteer program development and effective volunteer utilization.
  • Create, implement, and oversee KPIs and OKRs for the volunteer program.
  • Maintain consistent and accurate records of all volunteer communication and activity in software programs or systems accessible to other staff and leadership.
  • Identify new opportunities for volunteers to engage in the mission both physically and virtually.
  • Promote deeper levels of commitment, encouraging volunteers to serve in new ways, to include other OMC programs or initiatives, and giving financially.
  • Establish and nurture an organizational culture of volunteerism where volunteers are valued and utilized at every level of the organization.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in areas such as project management, development, strategic planning, and volunteerism.
  • Knowledge or experience in orphan care ministry.
