Overview
Since our founding in 1924, we've cut cardiovascular disease deaths in half. Our Internship Program provides college students with hands‑on experience in a non‑profit health organization.
We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our Development Team. As an intern supporting our Affair of the Heart and Heart Ball events, you will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns.
Internship Overview- Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
- Internship Duration: 9/8/26-12/11/26
- Location:
Remote. Time Zone preference East Coast or Central Time Zone - Salary: $23.00 per hour

Awards Management:
- Monitor awards for compliance with AHA policies and procedures.
- Provide support of active awards, change requests, and related inquiries.
- Review annual financial reports for compliance with policies.
- Monitor annual scientific report submissions and assign reviewer critiques as needed.
- Manage record retention of award agreements and payment information; support award payments.
- Provide information to awardees, institutional personnel, and sponsors.
- Support team with applicant pre‑award and awardee post‑award questions.
- Support meeting logistics and follow‑up reimbursements for semi‑annual meetings.
Add Special Projects:
- Conduct data quality reviews to ensure accuracy of information and payments for transferring and terminating awards; document findings to management.
- Assist management with special projects as needed/assigned.
- College seniors and graduate students studying non‑profit management, business operations, public health, or health administration preferred.
- Experience in grant research or grants administration with a funding organization or academic institution preferred.
- Time Zone preference East Coast or Central Time Zone.
- Experience managing projects preferred.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
- Experience working with volunteers, particularly science volunteers.
- Ability to communicate accurately and effectively to different audiences.
- Experience working with databases and electronic reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of MS Forms preferred.
- Knowledge of Canva preferred.
- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/week, M–F between 8 a.m.–5 p.m. either ET or CT.

Reliable WiFi Connection. - Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship. For remote roles, work must be performed inside the U.S.
