Position OverviewReporting to the Director of Communications and Fund Development, the Senior Philanthropy Officer (Annual and Major Giving) will play a key role in Action Canada’s transformational fundraising plan. This person will develop, implement, and grow the Major Giving and Annual Giving programs with an annual fundraising goal of $1 million. The role focuses on building relationships with prospects and donors, maximizing revenue for priority initiatives, and supporting the cultivation of major gift prospects to inspire significant philanthropic contributions.

Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and execution of the Annual Giving business plan, including engagement, solicitation strategies for donor acquisition, lapsed donors, retention, and upgrade opportunities.
- Identify new and creative opportunities to enhance the Annual Giving program.
- Develop goals, forecast revenue, and manage the program budget.
- Track, analyze, interpret, and present fundraising data to optimize strategies.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to create a comprehensive marketing plan and implement social media initiatives, digital solicitations, engagement campaigns, and maintenance of landing and donation pages for the Annual Giving Program.
- Manage a personalized Annual Leadership Giving Program of annual gifts up to $29,999 and maintain a portfolio of prospects for personalized solicitation activities.
- Manage a pipeline of 50–80 individual prospects and/or major donors.
- Provide strategic input for the planning and execution of Annual Fund stewardship activities.
- Collaborate with the Director of Fund Development to develop and implement a strategic annual fund plan that generates leads and identifies major and planned gifts.
- Partner with the Communications and Fund Development team to plan events in support of the Annual Fund.
- Oversee specific campaigns including Monthly Giving, Individual Giving, and Major Giving $5,000–29,999, among other initiatives.
- Manage the year‑end giving campaign, lapsed donor, and upgrade campaigns.
- Collaborate with outside vendors on marketing materials for campaigns.
- Participate in cross‑team Action Canada meetings to contribute to organizational strategy development.
- Report regularly, both verbally and in writing, to the Director of Communications and Fund Development.
- Attend Action Canada’s all‑staff meetings.
- Provide information and inputs to other relevant teams to support their work.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Employer.
- University degree or college certificate in a field related to fundraising, or equivalent experience.
- 4–6 years of experience leading Annual and Leadership Giving programs.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing digital fundraising, direct mail, and engagement strategies.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience managing a donor pipeline of 50–100 prospects.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector is a strong asset.
- Ability to work with discretion and confidentiality regarding donor and fundraising information.
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in English.
