The Employment And Career Development Coordinator is responsible for effectively leading and enhancing Refugee Social Services (RSS), Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA), and Career Pathways employment programs. This position ensures program goals are met, ensures quality control for both service provision and contractual compliance, and supervises a team of staff, interns, and volunteers. This position reports to the Economic Empowerment Program Manager.

This is a limited-term, full-time position ending September 30, 2026, with the possibility for renewal.

Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise all staff, interns, and volunteers providing career support services to clients enrolled in career programs.
  • Lead and develop direct service staff through facilitation of team meetings and individual supervision including coaching and goal setting. Oversee staff workload, help prioritize tasks, and troubleshoot challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency.
  • Actively participate and supervise the implementation and management of programs.
  • Track enrolled clients using proprietary database systems to ensure services are provided in a timely manner and properly documented.
  • Maintain close communication with staff regarding challenging cases and carry out timely, professional interventions to ensure appropriate service delivery.
  • Seek opportunities to advance gender equality.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with local employers and develop strategic partnerships with community organizations.
  • Train and supervise support staff.
  • Oversee client eligibility and enrollments.
  • Coordinate quality assurance efforts by conducting periodic case file and electronic data reviews.
  • Monitor and encourage the employment team's progress toward programmatic performance requirements. Coordinate cases and effectively communicate between team members and departments.
  • Design, implement, and provide monitoring and evaluation oversight for career and industry-specific programming.
  • Participate in IRC network-wide initiatives to understand and share best practices relating to career pathways programming.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations, career service providers, and small business and corporate entities for advanced career opportunities.
  • Ensure that information required for program eligibility for all career programs and reporting purposes is collected and that accurate records are maintained, including case files and client data entry.
  • Produce high-quality program reports for IRC headquarters and funders and ensure programs fulfill funder and agency requirements.
  • Assist in grant writing activities and development of new opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • University degree required, preferably in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field of study OR equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience securing employment opportunities for clients, either in refugee resettlement, the workforce development field, or closely related area of social service delivery.
  • Experience supervising, supporting, and training staff.
  • Proven success in promoting an organizational culture that reflects IRC's core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a variety of skills and perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Highly organized self-starter with demonstrated success in managing multiple priorities and delivering quantifiable results under pressure, with tight deadlines, and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English; proficiency in a language spoken by client populations a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and access to personal, insured vehicle, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
Working Environment:
  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and 'field' time to perform the outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
