New Roads Catholic Community in Belmont, MA is a growing and dynamic Roman Catholic community of faith working to reinvigorate our Church and faith community. We are on a mission to reach out to those who have become disconnected from God and faith, while challenging and encouraging our members to grow as intentional disciples.
SUMMARYThe Children's Ministry Coordinator provides leadership for New Roads' ministry with children and families. This person recruits and equips volunteers, oversees our Sunday children's programs, coordinates children's sacramental preparation, and helps create engaging environments where children can encounter Jesus and grow in faith.
The ideal candidate is passionate about helping children know God's love, skilled at building volunteer teams, and excited to partner with families in the faith formation of their children.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Volunteer Leadership- Recruit, train, and develop volunteers serving in Children's Ministry.
- Build and lead healthy volunteer teams for Kids' Church, Tiny Disciples, and sacramental preparation.
- Create a culture where volunteers feel valued, equipped, and empowered to serve effectively.
- Oversee and grow New Roads' Sunday children's programs, including Kids' Church (Grades K–5) and Tiny Disciples (Ages 2–5).
- Develop engaging, age-appropriate content and ministry experiences, utilizing existing curriculum and resources while adapting or creating content as needed to best serve children and families.
- Ensure all children's ministry environments are safe, welcoming, organized, and aligned with diocesan policies and best practices for child safety and care.
- Maintain a regular Sunday presence to support volunteers, build relationships with children and families, and ensure children's ministry runs smoothly and effectively.
- Communicate regularly with parents and families, helping them actively participate in their children's faith formation.
- Coordinate the children's portion of the sacramental preparation process for Reconciliation and Eucharist.
- Help plan and lead sacramental preparation workshops, celebrations, and related events.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support the spiritual growth of children and families.
- Participate as an active member of the New Roads staff team, attending meetings and contributing to church-wide initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Professionalism when dealing with volunteer ministers and parents
- A love for children, families, and volunteer ministers serving children
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience)
- At least one year experience working with children and families
- Comfortable with public speaking
- Comfortable with technology (Google Apps, Kids check-in systems, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to growth in your own relationship with Jesus Christ
- Willingness to support the mission of the Catholic Church

Creative Director - Schedule:
- Part-time (15–20 hours/week)
- Required on-site Sundays: 8:00am–12:00pm
- Weekday schedule: participate in regular team meetings; otherwise flexible, coordinated with supervisor; some remote work possible
- Required availability:
Holy Week, Easter, and Christmas Eve - Occasional evenings or Saturdays for special events or meetings
