Director of Development, Regional Development; FUNDRAISER

Director of Development – advanced fundraising professional with recognized expertise in major gifts and regional frontline development. The incumbent independently performs all duties of a university development officer, analyzes complex problems, determines solutions, and plans, organizes and directs multi‑component fundraising campaigns. The position focuses on building and managing an active portfolio of donors capable of giving $50,000 or more and has a major impact on overall program goals.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Advanced professional frontline fundraising experience of at least three years, or equivalent transferrable experience in strategic relationship development and portfolio management.
• Highly knowledgeable in development and fundraising techniques, including prospect identification research, historic gift data evaluation, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and donor stewardship.
• Significant experience in major gifts and portfolio management, with proven cultivation/solicitation techniques for gifts at all dollar levels and a track record of securing major gifts of $50,000 or more.
• Demonstrated success soliciting and securing significant philanthropic gifts and developing strategic donor relationships.
• Expert political acumen and ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.
• Experience conceiving, writing and editing fundraising presentations, case statements and proposals to support program priorities.
• Expert written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

• Awareness of and skill in applying inclusion in fundraising work.
• Extensive major gift development experience, including estate and planned giving vehicles, in‑kind gifts, gifts of securities and real property.
• Experience managing a regionally based development portfolio.
• Volunteer management experience, including recruiting, developing, training and empowering a volunteer board.
• Experience with Advantage database a plus.

• Departmental Budgeted Salary Range: $118,000 – $125,000 per year.
• Fundraiser 4 Full Pay Scale: $102,400 – $202,400 per year.
