Hybrid‑Remote position, but strongly encouraged in office once per week and for meetings and events as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Private Donor Portfolio Management (50%) – Manage, cultivate, steward, and solicit (when appropriate) a portfolio of corporate & foundation donors; write compelling grant proposals and reports; design and execute corporate partnerships and engagement programs that match programmatic need; identify, pursue, and secure new funding, sustainably growing and diversifying the corporate & foundation fundraising streams.
- Development Strategy (25%) – Set vision, strategy, and plan for cultivating a portfolio of corporate & foundation donors, incorporating input from the SMD, Development and Executive Director to maximize revenue; work closely with SMD and Executive Director to build necessary relationships throughout the NYC philanthropic community.
- Development Operations (15%) – Lead portfolio reviews, moves management progress checks; identify opportunities to strengthen pipeline, engagement, and overall portfolio health; consistently maintain donor, prospect, and fundraising activity information in the customer relationship management system (currently Sales Force) and use this information to track progress, monitor gaps, and adjust strategy.
- Program Proximity & Case for Support (10%) – Partner with SMD, Executive Director, and regional colleagues to understand TFA’s vision and strategic plan for impact in New York, translate regional priorities into a focused case for support; participate in organization‑wide initiatives such as corps member selection, regional team meetings, and alumni induction.
- Relationship Building & Management – Highly skilled relationship builder, particularly with external prospects and donors; build and execute comprehensive relationship management plans across a portfolio of donors; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fundraising & Development – Specialize in best practices of development and fundraising; track record of successfully navigating complex philanthropic landscapes to reach revenue goals; experience stewarding a diverse portfolio of donors/funders, including grant writing and reporting; leverage historical local development trends to set and adjust strategy.
- Portfolio Management – Set vision and direction for a specific portfolio of local donors and independently execute on that strategy to maximize revenue for Teach For America; monitor progress to ensure continuous donor stewardship.
- Grant Writing & Reporting – Proven ability to write and report on grants that satisfy donor and regulatory requirements.
- Corporate Partnership & Engagement Program Management – Prior experience managing corporate partnership and engagement programs.
- At least 7+years of related experience in development and fundraising with a track record of meeting and exceeding ambitious goals as a donor portfolio manager.
- Teach For America development experience.
- Occasional weekend or evening work hours required.
- Must be able to travel to engage with local donors.
The Revenue and Development team at Teach For America works with donors and champions to invest in teaching impact across the United States.
COMPENSATIONSalary Grade 111C: $106,100–$139,300. Base salary may vary depending on location and experience. Location‑specific tier information and additional benefits are available upon request.
