Red Rock Center for Independence (RRCI) is a nonprofit Center for Independent Living serving individuals with disabilities throughout Southwestern and Central Utah. RRCI promotes independence, self-determination, advocacy, community participation, and equal access for people with disabilities.
We are seeking a motivated and community-oriented Independent Living Coordinator based in Cedar City to help provide and expand services throughout Iron, Beaver, and Millard Counties.
Position OverviewThe Independent Living Coordinator provides consumer-directed services that help individuals with disabilities live more independently, participate in their communities, and achieve personally meaningful goals. This position works directly with consumers to develop Independent Living Plans, provide independent living skills training, support community access, connect individuals with resources, and promote disability rights and self-advocacy.
This position will serve communities throughout Iron, Beaver, and Millard Counties, including Cedar City, Enoch, Parowan, Paragonah, Beaver, Milford, Minersville, Delta, Fillmore, and surrounding rural areas. The successful candidate should be comfortable traveling, working independently, building community relationships, and collaborating closely with the Cedar City, St. George, and Richfield RRCI teams.
What You’ll Do Provide Independent Living Services- Conduct consumer intakes and assist with identifying independent living goals.
- Develop and maintain person-centered Independent Living Plans.
- Provide individualized support, advocacy, information, referral, and service coordination.
- Help consumers access community resources related to housing, transportation, healthcare, benefits, employment, education, and daily living.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program and grant requirements.
- Provide one-on-one and group-based independent living skills training.
- Teach skills related to self-advocacy, disability rights, budgeting, communication, problem-solving, community navigation, household management, and personal independence.
- Plan or assist with activities, workshops, meetings, and support groups that promote independent living and community participation.
- Coordinate with youth Independent Living Specialists and other RRCI staff.
- Support youth and young adults with disabilities as they prepare for post-secondary education, employment, independent living, and community involvement.
- Build relationships with schools, special education programs, adult education providers, Southern Utah University, Southwest Technical College, and other post-high education or training partners.
- Participate in transition-related activities or meetings when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, referral sources, service providers, schools, chambers of commerce, healthcare organizations, senior centers, workforce programs, and local government entities.
- Represent RRCI at community meetings, outreach events, coalitions, and resource activities.
- Increase awareness of RRCI services throughout Iron, Beaver, and Millard Counties.
- Identify service gaps and help expand outreach in rural and underserved communities.
- Help consumers identify assistive technology that may support independence.
- Coordinate short-term equipment loans through RRCI’s Loan Bank.
