Remote Dog Adoption & Foster Clearance Volunteer

Rescue City is a professional, foster based dog rescue based in Brooklyn, New York. We conduct lifesaving rescue transports from open intake shelters that are unable to save a high percentage of animals. Thanks to our efforts, hundreds of dogs are saved every year.

As a registered 501c3 non-profit 1, we mostly rely on tax deductible donations to fund our lifesaving transport operations, veterinary costs, and support of our fosters. Every dog we care for is fully vetted and altered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. We are proud that our organization rescues dogs of every breed, size, age, temperament, and medical condition.

Rescue City is tremendously appreciative of our community of loving fosters, dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and devoted adopters who help us do our incredibly important work. Our commitment to our dogs goes beyond the adoption process. Remote Volunteer

Approximately 3–5 hours per week (flexible)

Help Rescue City save more lives by welcoming new foster and adoptive families into our community. As a member of our Adoption or Foster Clearance Team, you'll review applications, speak with applicants and references, and help ensure every placement starts off on the right paw.

This behind-the-scenes volunteer role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, is detail-oriented, and wants to make a meaningful impact on the lives of rescue dogs.

• Foster Application Review
  • Review incoming foster applications
  • Conduct virtual Face Time home visits with prospective foster families
  • Complete brief reference calls as needed
  • Ensure applicants meet Rescue City's fostering requirements
• Adoption Application Review
  • Review adoption applications assigned by the Adoption Coordinator
  • Schedule and conduct veterinary and personal reference checks
  • Help move qualified applications through the adoption process

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Friendly, organized, and dependable
• Comfortable speaking with applicants over phone or video calls
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Passionate about animal rescue and helping dogs find safe homes

• Approximately 3–5 hours per week
• Flexible schedule
• Ability to complete occasional 10–15 minute reference calls during the week
