** About Audubon
** The National Audubon Society is a leading nonprofit conservation organization with 120 years of science-based, community-driven impact, dedicated to protecting birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow. Birds are powerful indicators of our planet’s health, acting as sentinels that warn us of environmental change and inspire action. Audubon works across the Western Hemisphere, driven by the understanding that what is good for birds is good for the planet.

Through a collaborative, bipartisan approach across habitats, borders, and the political spectrum, Audubon drives meaningful and lasting conservation outcomes. With 800 staff and over 1.9 million supporters, Audubon is a dynamic and ever-growing force committed to ensuring a better planet for both birds and people for generations to come. We partner with stakeholders, advocates, and decision-makers on efforts to improve and preserve critical habitat and community resilience in the Mississippi River Basin. Our blueprint for a Resilient Lower Mississippi River states, "We envision a healthy and connected network of habitats throughout the Mississippi River region that support sustainable bird populations and strengthen the resilience of human communities against both human-made and natural threats.”
** Position Summary**:

A centerpiece of Audubon’s work in the Mississippi River basin is the strategic implementation of nature-based solutions to improve habitat connectivity and community resilience. This position will work with partners, landowners, all levels of government, and funders to identify and develop nature-based projects along the Mississippi River mainstem, with a particular focus on the Mississippi Alluvial Valley and the Quad Cities (IA/IL) region.

The successful candidate will have deep experience in project development and management, particularly in developing habitat and resilience measures at the local scale. This position will work with a coalition of partners to identify areas that would benefit from these types of projects, and work with innovative funding mechanisms to drive implementation.

Experience with conservation and resilience funding entities’ programming like U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities, Environmental Protection Agency’s Section 319 program, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and other state and regional programs will be a plus. The candidate should have experience with grant management and cooperative project development.

A history of project design, wetlands delineation, or construction in the nature-based solutions arena is preferred.
