Role Description The Generation Action Intern is an internship role that supports campus and community organizing, advocacy, and education efforts aligned with Planned Parenthood’s mission. This hybrid position is based in Connecticut or Rhode Island with some work-from-home flexibility, and involves coordinating events, meetings, and activities that engage young people in reproductive health and rights issues. Day-to-day responsibilities may include assisting with outreach campaigns, creating educational materials, supporting social media and digital engagement, and helping facilitate trainings or discussions.

The intern will collaborate with staff, volunteers, and student leaders, track participation and outcomes, and provide administrative support such as scheduling, data entry, and basic reporting. The role offers opportunities to build skills in advocacy, organizing, communications, and program support while working in an inclusive and learning-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Interest in reproductive health, rights, and justice, and alignment with Planned Parenthood’s mission and values.
  • Strong communication skills, including clear writing, public speaking or presentation skills, and the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Organizational and time-management abilities, including managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Comfort with basic digital tools, such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, and social media platforms for outreach and engagement.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work respectfully with people from varied backgrounds and identities in group and community settings.
  • Self-motivation and willingness to take initiative, ask questions, and learn new skills with guidance from supervisors.
  • Availability to work in a hybrid schedule based in New Haven, CT, and Providence, RI with some evenings or weekends as needed for events.
  • Previous experience in student organizations, community service, advocacy, or peer education is helpful but not required.
