Role Description

The Grant Writer is a full-time hybrid role based in Davenport, IA, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, conducting prospect research, and developing compelling grant proposals that align with the organization’s mission and program priorities. Day-to-day tasks include writing and editing grant applications, preparing supporting documentation, and collaborating with program and finance staff to gather data and outcomes.

The Grant Writer will track deadlines, maintain grant records and reporting requirements, and assist with stewardship activities to strengthen relationships with funders. The role also supports broader fundraising initiatives by providing written materials and impact narratives for campaigns and reports.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills in Grant Writing and Proposal Writing, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive narratives.
  • Experience with Grant Administration, including tracking deadlines, compliance requirements, and reporting obligations.
  • Proficiency in Prospect Research to identify and evaluate potential funding sources.
  • Knowledge of Fundraising principles and collaboration with development efforts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze program data and translate outcomes into compelling grant content.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment, collaborating both in-person in Davenport, IA and remotely.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, social sciences, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in nonprofit or social services settings, especially related to housing or homelessness, is beneficial.
