Do you enjoy bringing people together to create meaningful change?

Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence (MPGV) is seeking a Volunteer Advocacy Coordinator to help build and grow our statewide advocacy volunteer network. This is an unpaid volunteer leadership opportunity for someone who is passionate about community organizing and wants to make a meaningful impact in preventing gun violence.

Working directly with MPGV's Executive Director, you will help recruit, engage, and support volunteers while shaping a growing advocacy program that connects Marylanders with meaningful opportunities to take action.

Responsibilities include:
  • Recruiting and welcoming new advocacy volunteers
  • Coordinating volunteer engagement and communications
  • Leading volunteer meetings and trainings
  • Assisting with planning and organizing advocacy events, including activities in Annapolis during Maryland's legislative session
  • Helping build a strong, connected network of advocates across Maryland
What we are looking for:

We are seeking someone with experience in community organizing - or someone with a passion for bringing people together around a shared cause. Strong communication and organizational skills are important, and an interest in advocacy, public policy, or nonprofit work is a plus.

Time Commitment
  • Approximately 2–3 hours per week on average
  • Additional time during Maryland's legislative session (January - April)
  • Most responsibilities can be completed remotely, with occasional in-person meetings and events, including advocacy activities in Annapolis
  • An initial commitment of at least nine months

This is an opportunity to help build Maryland's next generation of gun violence prevention advocates while working closely with MPGV's leadership to strengthen our grassroots advocacy efforts.

If you are looking for a meaningful way to use your skills to help create safer communities, we would love to hear from you.
