Land in Common is a nonprofit community land trust (CLT) and land justice advocacy organization based in occupied Wabanaki homelands (specifically “Maine”). In partnership with Wabanaki community, we permanently remove land from private markets and restore the use and care of this land to communities who have been dispossessed of land by capitalism, colonialism, and white supremacy.
About the PositionWe are hiring an Action Circle Lead– a position similar to an executive director, but with an emphasis on building and facilitating shared power and leadership across our sociocracy-based organizational structure. This new staff member will hold the big picture of the organization, helping us to hone our priorities, build capacity, and grow our collaborations. They will also hold leadership roles in areas of financial sustainability and land care, including land acquisition and access, Wabanaki land return, and land justice coalition-building.
We seek someone who is driven by values and practices of collective liberation, has experience working in multiracial and cross-cultural community to enact mutual care and build shared power, and is a strong communicator, facilitator, and organization-builder with a collaborative and creative spirit. Because our work is focused on land justice by and for Wabanaki and BIPOC/Global Majority communities, constituent leadership is crucial.
