This position will be 150 hours of work during the fall 2026 semester. The work will be on several properties around Swannanoa, NC in addition to some work in Asheville and remote work as appropriate. The intern will work with the executive director to design and conduct focus groups with people experiencing or vulnerable to homelessness. The goal of the focus groups will be to guide World of Abundance in designing a transitional employment program to help people gain money, work experience, skills and resources to meet their individual goals of stability.
Focus groups will be conducted with various populations throughout Buncombe County. Feedback during each session will inform questions for future sessions. The intern will use writing and speaking skills for this job as they converse with participants and summarize feedback from each session. They will also need organizational skills to schedule focus group sessions with partner organizations. The intern needs to be willing to learn and grow and reach out to experts to supplement their understanding when needed.
