Position: Assistant Director of Community Advocacy at Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo

Assistant Director of Community Advocacy

The Assistant Director of Community Advocacy is a dynamic, externally facing role that advances the Buffalo Jewish Federation's community relations, advocacy, and antisemitism response efforts. Working closely with the Senior Director of Communications, volunteer leaders, and community partners, this professional coordinates key initiatives, cultivates relationships across government, and develops educational resources. Hybrid, based in Western New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, assess, and coordinate the Federation's response to incidents of antisemitism in Western New York, maintaining the incident database and analyzing trends
  • Develop and facilitate educational programs for the Jewish community, elected officials, and civic and faith leaders on Jewish identity and contemporary antisemitism
  • Oversee the local Student to Student program, including recruiting and training teen presenters
  • Cultivate relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials; monitor legislative developments and coordinate advocacy efforts
  • Prepare daily news briefings, reports, and presentations for Federation leadership and the Board of Governors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; equivalent professional experience considered
  • 3-5 years in communications, community relations, government relations, public affairs, advocacy, or a related field
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, Jewish history, Israel, and contemporary antisemitism, or ability to develop that expertise quickly
  • Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation; availability for evenings, Sundays, and some travel

Salary: $50,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience.
