POSITION SUMMARYThe Education & Literacy Programs Volunteer Coordinator oversees and coordinates various volunteer programs at World Relief Western Washington in support of our local office and work. This role primarily provides training, support, and resources to volunteers in the ESL, Financial Literacy, Detention Center Post‑Release program, and Children & Family programs. Additionally, the Education & Literacy Programs Volunteer Coordinator provides support and resources to the program staff teams in these departments in the area of community/church engagement and volunteers.
This is a limited‑term position funded through a grant agreement until February 28, 2027, and contingent upon funding extension.
This is a part‑time position for 20 hours per week. Mon‑Fri, flexible scheduling, some evenings and weekends; after the 90‑day period, we offer working from home up to 2 days per week, but only if the work allows and only after the initial 90 days.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES- Regularly communicate with ESL and Children & Family program staff to learn their volunteer and community engagement needs, filter questions, and provide resources/accountability around volunteer care and data tracking.
- Regularly communicate with Detention Center Post‑Release volunteers to schedule their involvement and keep them up‑to‑date with new developments in this work.
- Maintain regular contact with volunteers and field questions or concerns as they arise.
- Provide volunteer appreciation, recognition and ongoing training opportunities.
- Plan and facilitate meetings and quarterly training for volunteers, including workshops and guest speakers.
- Support volunteers in building long‑term, mutually transformative relationships in their roles.
- Work closely with Outreach Manager and other WRWW staff to pivot and adapt volunteer roles as needs change and assist volunteers through ongoing role transitions.
- Actively participate and contribute to External Engagement Team meetings and promotional activities, engaging the community in the work of World Relief Western Washington as a member of the Outreach Team.
- Work closely with the rest of the External Engagement Team to fulfill speaking engagement requests, as well as engage in recruiting and promotional events and community engagement opportunities.
- Maintain up‑to‑date records of volunteer information, hours and activities; enter data regularly into database.
- Create and implement program evaluation tools to measure volunteer and participant experience.
- Track volunteer engagement, program data, and regular program improvement goals.

- Valid drivers license and ability to pass MVR standards
- Organized and able to manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
- Familiarity with trauma informed responses and cultural humility
- Flexible schedule for some evening and weekend volunteer trainings and events
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
