ABOUT ABORTION FORWARD
Abortion Forward is empowering a bold, people-centered movement to protect and expand reproductive rights and access across Ohio.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and mission-driven Field Organizer to help cultivate Abortion Forward’s community base throughout Central and Southern Ohio. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and loves engaging with people.
SUMMARYThe Central & Southern Ohio Field Organizer will support the Field Department by:
- recruiting and training volunteers,
- organizing communities to build political power at the state and local levels, and
- educating Ohioans on the importance of busting abortion stigma.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, adaptable, and energized by connecting with people.

POSITION STATUS Full Time
POSITION CLASSIFICATION Hybrid – (three in-office days per month)
TRAVEL REQUIRED Approximately 25% travel with seasonal variability
PAY RANGE $ per hour

Field
- Builds ongoing relationships with key stakeholders, including elected officials, within Central and Southern Ohio.
- Organizes and participates in community events under the supervision of the Field Manager.
- Works with other organizers, coalition partners, business owners, and community leaders on collaborative programming.
- Attends community meetings and events, legislative events, and other notable opportunities to make connections and educate the public.
- Facilitates virtual and in-person trainings.
- Assists Field Manager in the development of a Central and Southern Ohio political program to bust abortion stigma and advance abortion rights in the state and implements this program under the supervision of the Field Manager.
- Recruits, trains, educates, and motivates volunteers to participate in a number of influential activities and opportunities primarily in Central and Southern Ohio.
- Builds and maintains a team of Central and Southern Ohio volunteer leaders.
- Provides guidance and assists volunteer leaders in facilitation of actions within their own communities.
- Runs door-to-door canvasses and phone/text banks.
- Assists Field Manager in the process of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training interns.
- Under supervision of Field Manager, provides interns with opportunities for growth, skill development, and project experience.
Organizational Support
- Coordinates with the Field team to implement the Field portion of the Organizational work plan.
- Tracks and records real time data of projects completed, volunteers engaged, and assigned measurables reached.
- Passion for reproductive rights, social justice, and advocacy work.
- Knowledge of reproductive rights and health topics from a DEI&B-informed perspective required.
- Experience utilizing digital communication tools such as Zoom, Outlook, Slack, Signal, and common social media platforms required.
- One-two (1-2) years of community leadership, education, organizing, or related experience preferred.
- Experience utilizing contact and voter management systems such as Every Action, VAN (Vote builder), predictive dialers, and texting platforms preferred.
- Experience recruiting and overseeing volunteers preferred.
- Experience coordinating and facilitating small events preferred.
- Experience in social justice movement work preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
