POSITION OVERVIEWUpwell Fundraising Advisory is seeking an experienced contract grant writer to provide part-time, ongoing support for a select portfolio of nonprofit clients. The contract grant writer will work collaboratively with Upwell's team to develop compelling, accurate, and funder-aligned grant proposals. Assignments may include foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities across a range of nonprofit issue areas.
This is an independent contractor position with flexible, remote work and hours that vary based on the grant calendar and client pipeline.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Draft, edit, and review letters of inquiry, grant proposals, concept papers, and related application materials
- Review prospective funding opportunities for fit within the client portfolio
- Analyze funder guidelines and tailor applications to funder priorities and requirements
- Gather and synthesize information from client materials, data, and other sources
- Develop clear program narratives, goals, outcomes, timelines, and evaluation plans
- Coordinate with Upwell staff to meet Final date to receive applicationss
- Incorporate feedback and revise drafts efficiently and accurately
- Maintain consistency, accuracy, and a strong client voice across all submissions
- Assist with grant reports and other writing projects as needed
- Participate in occasional virtual meetings with the Upwell team as needed
- Demonstrated experience writing grants for nonprofit organizations
- Experience with foundation and corporate grant applications preferred
- Experience with local, state, or federal government grant applications a plus
- Exceptional writing, editing, research, and organizational skills
- Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex program information into clear and persuasive narratives across varying organizational missions
- High attention to detail and responsiveness to feedback
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, client-service environment
