Community Housing Opportunities Corporation (CHOC) strengthens affordable housing communities by providing resident-driven programs and services that support housing stability, self-sufficiency, and quality of life for low-income youth, families, seniors, and households with supportive needs. Through CHOC’s Community Impact Division, residents have access to programs focused on housing stability and resource navigation, education and employment, health and wellness, youth development, senior services, and community engagement.
As CHOC’s programs and partnerships grow, strong systems for program quality, evaluation, funding, and sustainability are essential. The Resource Development VISTA will help build that infrastructure. Working alongside Community Impact leadership, the VISTA will assess existing practices and develop sustainable systems for program standards, data collection, evaluation, outcome measurement, and reporting. The VISTA will also strengthen CHOC’s resource-development capacity by creating tools and processes for identifying prospective partners, researching funding opportunities, managing a funding calendar, developing outreach resources, and supporting long-term fundraising strategy.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit management, community development, program evaluation, fundraising, communications, public administration, or social impact who wants experience building the systems that help community programs grow and remain sustainable.
This is a hybrid position serving CHOC communities in Sacramento and Yolo Counties in Northern California. The VISTA must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the Sacramento/Yolo region and be available for in-person service approximately 1–2 days per week. This is not a fully remote position.
Member DutiesThe VISTA will build lasting program quality and sustainability within CHOC’s Community Impact Division. The VISTA will assess current practices and develop agency-wide program standards, data-collection tools, evaluation measures, reporting templates, and written procedures, piloting and refining these resources with staff. The VISTA will also strengthen resource-development capacity by creating partnership-prospecting tools, a grant-opportunity research process, funding calendar, fundraising strategies, outreach templates, and sustainable written procedures.
These systems will help CHOC better demonstrate program impact, identify resources, and support future program growth. CHOC staff will remain responsible for ongoing implementation and data entry, donor and partner relationships, grant submissions, fundraising solicitation, and management of awarded funds.
