The Major Gifts Officer is a full-time, hybrid role based in the New Orleans, Louisiana Metropolitan Area, with flexibility for some work from home. This position is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of major donors and prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying and researching potential donors, building and maintaining relationships, conducting donor meetings and presentations, and developing personalized cultivation and stewardship plans.

The Major Gifts Officer will prepare proposals and impact reports, coordinate fundraising campaigns, and collaborate with staff and volunteers to align major gifts strategies with organizational priorities. The role also includes tracking donor activity in the CRM system, analyzing giving trends, and contributing to special events and community outreach that support long-term philanthropic engagement.

• Demonstrated sucess in the cultivation of major gifts, Annual Giving, and building long-term donor relationships.
• Knowledge of Planned Giving strategies and ability to discuss legacy and estate-based philanthropy with donors.
• Skill in Prospect Research to identify, qualify, and prioritize potential major donors.
• Background in Philanthropy, including familiarity with nonprofit fundraising best practices and ethical standards.
• Experience in Alumni Relations or similar relationship-based fundraising environments is beneficial.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to set goals, manage a donor portfolio, and meet or exceed fundraising targets.
• Comfort working in a hybrid environment, with solid time management, organization, and CRM/database skills.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, communications, business, or similar) or equivalent professional experience.
• Commitment to the mission of supporting families of sick children and willingness to attend occasional evening or weekend events.
