Founded in 1963, Santa Barbara Audubon Society (SBAS) is dedicated to conserving and celebrating the birds and wildlife of southern Santa Barbara County. A chapter of the National Audubon Society, SBAS is an independent nonprofit that advocates locally on behalf of important habitats and species, and hosts bird-focused community science initiatives and programs, educational outreach, and birding events.

Job DescriptionSanta Barbara Audubon Society (SBAS) is in search of a part-time Data Entry/Administrative Clerk. This position reports to the SBAS Executive Director.
Job InformationThis is a non-exempt hourly position and is at-will. Work week is an average of 6 - 8 hours of work per week, with more hours likely at mid-year and year end. Work environment is currently comprised of home office and meeting the ED and board members at other locations. Compensation $27.00 per hour.
Primary duties and responsibilities- Pick up mail at local PO Box, log, and distribute mail on a weekly basis at minimum.
- Maintain and update contact and financial donor data in Donor Perfect and synchronize email address additions/changes in Constant Contact.
- Generate and mail official thank you receipts and coordinate with Executive Director and/or President for personal notes on large contributions.
- Respond to messages left on office phone, coordinating with the Executive Director as needed.
- Assist with response to general inquiries emailed via the “Contact Us” form on our website.
- Generate donor and member reports for the Board on a monthly basis.
- Generate and provide mailing lists for the newsletter and membership, annual appeal, and other campaigns in a timely manner to support mailing deadlines.
- Generate annual list of contributors for inclusion in the September newsletter.
- Organize and maintain digital files such as copies of thank you letters.
- Enter National Audubon member data into Donor Perfect in coordination with Membership Chair.
- Perform general errands that may be assigned by the Executive Director and Board President.
- Some advanced coursework or equivalent relevant office experience.
- Ability to work from home, including stable wifi and reliable, secure phone connection or coverage.
- Ability to pick up mail from the PO Box and, after logging, deliver it to the Executive Director, Treasurer, or others as appropriate.
- Proficient using a Windows based laptop computer and Google Workspace (documents, sheets, etc.)
- Experience with Donor Perfect and/or Constant Contact a plus.
- Strong oral and written skills and effective communication via phone, email and video conference.
- Accuracy and attention to detail a must.
- Must exercise discretion and confidentiality in handling member/donor information.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a background check.
- Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Santa Barbara and be available to perform these local duties as needed.
- Must be able to provide three professional references upon request.

- Organized and process-oriented when managing multiple projects.
- Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
- Ascend or descend stairs.
- Remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods, often standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
