Position Summary:

Coordinates the care of Pediatric Neurology patients throughout the continuum of care; serves as an outpatient clinical resource supporting providers who care for Pediatric Neurology patients. Our pediatric clinic delivers care to children with acute and chronic neurological diseases such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy, movement disorders, and other neurological conditions. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator works Monday–Friday days in a hybrid office setting (approximately 50% of time spent working from home).

The Nurse coordinates patient care with responsibilities including phone triage, prescription refills, physician communications, scheduling tests and procedures assuring continuity of care. Attention to detail and a sense of advocacy is necessary.

• Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients; completes health history and physical examination on patients; conveys findings to physician.
• Coordinates patient care, orders diagnostic tests, conveys findings to physician, attends inpatient rounds, coordinates patient appointments and assists with referrals to outside sources.
• Assists physician and provides support with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties, including compliance with environmental safety regulations, infection control standards and quality assurance.
• Acts as liaison and team leader by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources.

Education: A diploma, certification or degree is not required.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with two years of nursing experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Licensure must satisfy state requirements where practice occurs (RN licensure in Missouri and/or Illinois as applicable).

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Registered Nurse licensure – Missouri and/or Illinois, per location and Compact Act

Driver's License: A driver's license is not required for this position.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with two years of nursing experience.
• Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act.
• Basic Life Support Certification or obtains certification within one month of employment. Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.
